Nevada Nursing Schools

Nursing Schools in Nevada are educating students to become nurses in an era of changing health care. Nursing is a profession that is always evolving to improve patient care and the entire health care delivery system. Research several college programs and talk to advisors who can tell you about the requirements of different programs and help you decide which one is right for you.

Pre-Requisites

Chances are you’ll have to take some pre-requisite courses before enrolling in a program which you may have taken them in high school or in a past college program. Pre-requisite classes are usually algebra, basic math, chemistry and biology. Some programs have pre-requisites as part of their standard program, where you would take a semester or two of pre-requisite classes before starting nursing core classes.

Nevada’s Top Nursing Schools

Western Nevada College (WNC) offers a two-year Associate in Science Registered Nurse Program. Students are prepared to sit for the NCLEX exam for licensing. WNC’s goal is to prepare student to continue their education at a four-year college or university.

Nevada State College (NSC) – School of Nursing offers four types of Bachelor degree programs. They offer a traditional Bachelor and part-time Bachelor degree programs. NSC also offers an accelerated Bachelor degree program for students who have a degree in a different major. The last type of program they offer is an RN to BSN bridge program.

University of Nevada-Reno Orvis Nursing Schools offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs. They offer the traditional Bachelor degree program and an RN to BSN program. This university offers several Masters and Post-Masters Certificate Program. Eligible students are able to enter a Doctorate Program to prepare for leadership positions.
